Young residents get creative at Dan Court

Posted: 02/06/2020

Lockdown has certainly seen a rise in popularity for people, young and old, taking up new hobbies and high street chains have seen a rush in online sales for haberdashery and art equipment.

Leading contractor Higgins was keen to continue this passion for art by inviting the children of Dan Court in Park Royal, London to design posters which will be displayed on the hoarding around Dan Court to celebrate keyworkers and show appreciation for all their hard work to keep the country going during the Coronavirus pandemic.

David Martin, Project Director for Higgins Construction at Dan Court commented, “We have been really impressed with the quality of entries we have received. The children really took this project to heart and designed some superb posters which must have taken so much time and effort to do.

“We are really pleased that our client, Catalyst was able to judge the final entries, which was not an easy task, and look forward to seeing them all on display brightening up our hoarding.”

The positive and inspiring posters created by the children feature a range of colourful images and messages including the iconic rainbow which has come to symbolise the thanks and gratitude the country feels to all our key workers including NHS staff, cleaners, fire service, teachers to name but a few.

Dorothy Scarlett, Catalyst’s Housing Co-Ordinator at Dan Court said, “This competition was about saying thank you to all of the key workers that have kept the country going during lock down, and you can tell that the kids at Dan Court really wanted to be part of it. I love the final poster, but it was so difficult to choose a winner! All of the entries were fantastic and every one of them was a winner in my eyes.”

Sophia, winner of the competition said: "I really appreciate all the hard work and sacrifices of all key workers, especially my parents who are health care workers in the NHS, this is my best way to show my gratitude to all key workers, a big thank you and I salute you all. Stay Alert, Control the Virus and Save Lives!"

Higgins has been working with Catalyst on fire safety work at Dan Court, which features 138 new flats and basement car parking in Park Royal, Wembley including podium landscaping and above ground parking to the front of the scheme.
