Residents on the Colville Estate in Hackney are moving into their brand-new Council homes as part of one of the largest regeneration projects in the borough, in which Higgins has delivered more than 100 new homes.
Elvis and Gladys Donker recently had the opportunity to view their new three bedroom maisonette home, prior to moving in early March. Elvis comments, “It was really nice to see our new home and we are really impressed with the quality of it. Throughout the whole build programme, Higgins has been excellent in keeping us informed of everything that is going on.”
The regeneration of the Colville Estate is one of the largest projects in Hackney. Higgins was appointed by Hackney Council as development partner for phase 2 of the redevelopment of the Colville Estate – which provides more than 100 new homes – including seventy, which are for social rent, offering high-quality, Council homes to existing residents whose decades-old properties were in disrepair.
Designed by Karakusevic Carson Architects and David Chipperfield Architects, when the regeneration is complete, Colville Estate will provide 935 homes, of which over half will be for social rent allocated directly to families already living on the estate, or for Shared Ownership. The strong collaborative approach between all stakeholders has shaped a new strategy for other regeneration projects within the borough.
