Second Meet the Contractor Day to be held on the Kings Crescent Estate

Following on from the first successful ‘Meet the Contractor Day’, where more than 100 residents and neighbours of the Kings Crescent Estate attended, Higgins Construction PLC & LB Hackney is holding a second ‘Meet the Contractor Day’ on Saturday 19th September where members of the local community can come along.

Gordon Riddock, Project Director for Higgins Construction at Kings Crescent comments, “We were delighted with the response we had for our previous event and hope to see just as many people attend. The open day will be held in the community centre and gives people a chance to come and ask any questions and view information boards about the development programme and see artist impressions of the new homes and the external refurbishment.”

“These days are extremely important to us as they allow us to forge positive relationships with the estate’s residents and local community. We are also extremely committed to forging strong links with local businesses and creating opportunities for local people through our training and apprenticeship schemes. Kings Crescent is an exciting but challenging regeneration project but we know that once completed it will be enjoyed by the existing residents, future residents and visitors.”

As part of the day Albion Kids Show will be in attendance offering lots of fun and entertainment for the children including soft play, a giant pirate ship and a music lorry with stage for karaoke. There will also be a DJ throughout the day and food provided by local caterers.

Kings Crescent Estate in the London Borough of Hackney is a large regeneration project to deliver 765 homes for social renting and shared ownership, refurbished homes and private sale homes. Higgins Construction is working on the first phase of the five year programme to develop 273 new build properties and external refurbishment works to a further 101 homes.

The project will be built in a range of blocks, from five to 12 storeys, with space for a community centre and retail units at ground floor level. There will be a mix of new build properties comprising of one, two, three and four bedroom properties, of these 79 will be rented, 36 shared ownership and 158 for private sale.
