A £92m scheme providing more than 300 new homes and commercial space in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets has been completed.
Higgins Construction worked with A2Dominion New Homes, HTA architects, and employer’s agent Silver to build the CQ London development at 721-737 Commercial Road, Limehouse.
The scheme offers affordable and private sale properties, including 32 shared ownership homes to support first time buyers onto the property ladder with prices from £88,000 for a 40 per cent share.
Danny Lynch, A2Dominion New Homes Development Director (London), said: “This scheme has transformed a disused site to deliver high quality new homes situated between Canary Wharf and the City of London. This is a rapidly developing part of east London, providing good investment potential for buyers at the development.”
Sarah Odell, Partner at Silver, the employer’s agent, said: “We are very pleased to have been involved in the CQ London development. The development is in a prime development location and the development team worked consistently in their efforts to provide high quality housing for A2Dominion New Homes and its clients. The development has significantly enhanced the streetscape of the Commercial Road and is a development in which all involved parties can be very proud.”
Steve Leakey, Managing Director at Higgins Construction, said: “We are proud to have been the main contractor on this project that has helped regenerate this area of Commercial Road both physically and economically through creating local job opportunities and using the project to give a number of apprentices a start in the industry.”
The development, which began in 2008, has been completed over four phases and offers a range of property sizes.
It incorporates a number of sustainable features including solar panels to generate energy for the homes and an eco-friendly combined heat and power system.
There is basement and ground floor car parking for 45 spaces and secure cycle storage for 319 bicycles. In addition the ground floor includes 645 square meters of commercial space at street level.
CQ London is just minutes from the Limehouse DLR station and London City Airport is 25 minutes away by DLR.
