Royal Road

The design and construction of 96 affordable new build dwellings across four blocks ranging from six-storeys to nine-storeys in height.

The four main core buildings are linked along Royal Road and Cooks Road by spacious three and four bedroom duplex homes with front and rear gardens, in addition there are flats with roof terraces above. The flats are arranged in the shape of a cross allowing for the footprint of the building to step around existing mature trees.

All of the new units were constructed to a Code for Sustainable Homes 'Level 4' standard, and the scheme design retained twenty-two of the thirty-five existing trees on the site. Renewable energy features included a combined heating and power unit, solar panels and green roofs. The scheme also makes provision for a future ESCO connection.
