Now I can use my creativity to influence change.
Sam stumbled across the opportunity to work for Higgins Construction while she was playing hockey for a team that Higgins sponsor. She was looking for a local job, saw the vacancy, applied and was hired as Assistant Documents and Drawings Administrator.
Sam's vibrant personality shone through and it wasn't long before she was spotted by one of directors who recognised that she was better suited to working with people than folding drawings. It led to her new position as Community Development Assistant. This role gave her the opportunity to put her art education to good use and influence change through the design of company and project literature.
Soon, she moved to the role of Business Development Assistant while gaining marketing qualifications through the Chartered Institute of Marketing, attending courses two nights a week. Her passion for people, enthusiasm and charisma made her the perfect person to work directly with Clients, learning about their needs and finding solutions. Ever committed to bettering herself, Sam enrolled in university, attending one day per week. She studied construction management to complement her marketing knowledge, giving her the skills to combine marketing strategies with the needs of the construction industry and improve her ability to help create solutions for clients. Upon course completion Sam achieved a 1st class honours in Construction Management and was awarded Higgins Student of the Year Award for 2014.
More recently, Sam was promoted to Business Development Manager. Her engaging personality is put to good use in this role where she talks to clients daily, using her experience, knowledge and skills to find opportunities and help shape solutions.
I love that Higgins Construction has given me the opportunity to challenge myself and to develop new skills. Here I can use my voice and my education to influence change, implement the changes and see real transformations take place.
