History
Since 2000
The past 10 years have been a very successful period for Higgins and this has been recognised in the awards we have won. Back in 2002, our work at Angel Town and Cambourne was recognised by winning the national community award of ‘Best Resident Choice’. And we have continued to win awards throughout the decade, including the Regeneration Contractor of the Year in 2005 and 2007, Best Community Led Regeneration scheme in 2007 and 2 schemes short listed in the 2009 Sustainable Housing Awards. This year saw the completion of the first Code 4 scheme in London for London and Quadrant Housing Trust, One Vale Street.
The noughties have seen many ‘firsts’ for Higgins and that includes securing our first PFI schemes - Forest Gate and Brockley – and our tallest new build scheme - Streamlight for Swan Housing Group. We also launched Exemplar, our in-house future leaders construction programme in 2005.
Our reputation as the industry leader in community construction has been enhanced over this period. This includes our partnership work with national charity Community Service Volunteers (CSV) to develop training centres across London. The Silwood Estate Regeneration Programme is an excellent example: it offered not just construction training but catering, nursery nurse / child care training. Other high profile inner city estate regeneration programmes include Market Estate, Stockwell Park and Church End and Roundwood.
We remain active in estate regeneration, housing refurbishment programmes including Decent Homes, Education and Community Construction.
