Bath Road, Hounslow

This affordable mixed-use development is on Bath Road in Hounslow, London for property group A2Dominion. The planning development has been designed by Colwyn Foulkes & Partners and the delivery architect is Fourpoint Architects. The commercial retail space achieves a BREEAM “Excellent” rating and includes a centralised Combined Heat and Power and Photovoltaic panels.

The development, which is on the site of a former Morrisons, provides 93 shared ownership and 83 affordable rented apartments across three blocks, ranging up to seven storeys in height. It has been designed to incorporate residential, outdoor and 539 m2 retail space as well as 863 m2 of child play space across the development of this, 430 m2 is set aside for under-fives’s, which will include a landscaped space with play features for young children, this is in line with the London Plan SPG ‘Shaping Neighbourhoods: Play and Recreation’.

We have completed extensive remediation works on the site following the demolition of the original Morrison’s supermarket. Taking a circular economy approach, we reused concrete that had been excavated from the demolition phase. Recycled concrete not only stays out of landfills, but it also replaces other materials such as gravel that must otherwise be mined and transported for use. This saved us on transport of crush to site, reduction in CO² from vehicle emissions and overall had a positive environmental impact.

Steven Waite, A2Dominion Director of Technical & Commercial, said: “We are proud of our involvement in Hounslow, owning and managing over 2,620 properties in the borough since the last 70 years. We are pleased to be working with Higgins to develop Bath Road, which will create 176 affordable homes for the people of Hounslow.”
