Stockwell Park, Brixton, London
The regeneration of the Stockwell Park and Robstart Village estate for Community Trust Housing, the Stock Transfer vehicle for Network Housing Group, comprises approximately 550 new build and 552 occupied refurbishment properties along with infrastructure and external works improvements.
| Budget: | £110,000,000 |
| Client: | Network Housing Association |
The regeneration programme provides sustainable new homes, extensive internal and external refurbishment to existing blocks ranging from 4 to 15 stories, environment and landscape improvements, new Biomass, CHP and Gas Fired Boiler energy centres providing district heating to all new build phases and some existing blocks being refurbished.
The new build phases include mixed tenure housing along with an extra care facility and new housing management offices. The first new build phase is constructed on an existing site of garage blocks and comprises 58 units in a 4 and 8-storey structure. Built to Code 3 and linked to the energy centre the building provides a stunning gateway building to the estate and delivers mixed tenure properties to provide opportunities for a diverse yet cohesive community.
The first refurbishment phase completed was Denchworth House which included full external and internal refurbishment to 58 occupied dwellings in a 4-storey block, with works being carried out to both tenanted and leasehold properties. The works included new windows and cladding, a new over-roof, new kitchens, bathrooms, heating, electrical re-wires as well works to communal areas, asbestos removal and a new boosted water mains installation.
As well as physical regeneration works there is intensive community involvement through a range of consultation events, public art projects, a web cam positioned to view works progress via the Community Trust Housings Website, provision of Estate Based Trainee opportunities and support from Higgins for other community based projects.
