Higgins develops bespoke health & safety educational
programmes to keep children on the right side of the site
hoardings and safety barriers. To do this, we work closely
with clients, residents, school head teachers, education authorities,
youth clubs and of course the children themselves. Our programmes
have included:

Involving children
in the safety signage process, with their own design competitions
as part of special safety awareness presentations. |

Organising site
visits and play projects to help children appreciate "what
all the fuss is about" around our work on their homes
and estates. |

Career presentations
about the construction industry for the older children
and their parents. |
We have even brought our construction work into the classroom
with projects to support the national curriculum for lessons
in geography, history and the sciences.
We know our initiatives work, because we monitor the issues
we all certainly want to see less of, such as site trespassing,
vandalism and verbal abuse. We also see the children channelling
more energy into positive action, keeping the children on side,
and off site. |
