RESIDENTS CHOICE
"Choice here goes a very
long way beyond the traditional norm of paint colours."
| Building Homes Quality Awards 2002 - Best Options
|
|

|
| These were the
words of Building magazine, when Higgins won the Best Residents'
Options category in the Building Homes Quality Awards for 2002.
This award recognised the example set by our regeneration of
the Angell Town estate in Brixton, when the magazine also highlighted
"just how much choice tenants can be given, and how good
the end result can look." |

To make a real difference in residents'
choice, our community development team provides a dedicated RLO
for every project. Bespoke consultation packages are then developed
not only by going that extra mile with the residents, but also by
working closely with our partners in the supply chain. This is why
we work with some of the leading manufacturers of kitchens and bathrooms,
as well as with award winning architects.
Higgins goes that extra mile because we
believe the residents deserve the same level of service as anyone
in the private housing market.
We not only provide samples when it comes
to the furnishings and fittings, we also provide the support for
residents to appreciate the potential advantages of all the choices
available through open days, show homes and of course, product brochures.
If residents prefer to be consulted on a one-to-one basis, we hold
drop-in surgeries and undertake home visits.
When we say we go that extra mile, we
mean it. If residents want to see how options have worked on other
estates, we will organise guided tours.
Presenting the
choices on offer to the returning residents on the award-winning
Angell Town estate for 70 new four and five-bedroom family homes,
the design specification was of a standard to match luxury private
housing.
Higgins worked closely with the resident
representatives and architects Burrell Foley Fisher LLP to develop
a specification that provided observation balconies, designer
zinc roofing, premium Scandinavian quality double-glazing, luxury
tongue-and-groove natural timber floors - and many, many of
the things that dream homes are made of.
Monthly evening meetings were held
throughout the Angell Town construction programme, leading to
a show house to display the results to be achieved for all the
residents. By winning the Building Homes Quality Award, it is
hoped our success will help set new standards in residents'
choice throughout the industry. |
